Work starts on Victoria Bridge ...

... and a prize if you've seen any workmen there yet. According to the latest press release from Herefordshire Council dated 4 May, work started on 2 May, which in itself contradicts this well concealed sign on the bridge at the moment, which one could be forgiven for thinking means the bridge is to close forever. They also reveal the cost of the work; a truly staggering £725 000.00!!!! In true Council speak, Cllr Brian Wilcox, Cabinet Member (Highways and Transportation), said: “Victoria Footbridge is a significant local landmark, well used by pedestrians within Hereford City. Special measures have been adopted to minimise disruption to the public while allowing work to continue." How do those measures work then, because if its closed and there is no temporary alternative, then there is going to be MAXIMUM disruption to the public.
