This is a new section of JABA which we hope to continue updating with news and information about sustainability and what it means for JABA residents.

Supermarket on Edgar Street Grid? - JABA Editor Rob Hattersley asked at the latest City Centre Forum whether or not the Council would be in favour of a supermarket on the Edgar Street grid. He told Councillors’ of a recent report (view in full at from Friends of the Earth, ActionAid and the New Economics Foundation which highlighted the damage to local agriculture, jobs, business and the environmental impact of supermarkets. Cabinet members were unable to say whether the Council was in favour of such a supermarket. Until now it’s believed that the plan would include a Council Headquarters, smaller business units and mixed residential development, rather than one superstore.
