Breast Cancer Haven announce series of talks and workshops


Breast Cancer Haven runs a variety of talks, seminars and workshops throughout the year which are open to all, not just those affected by breast cancer. Diary dates at the moment are:

Thursday 22 February 10am – 1.00pm. Creative Collage Workshop with Sharon Pullen
Wednesday 21 March 2pm – 4pm. Music & Imagination Workshop with Anthony Hall
Wednesday 28 March 1.30pm – 3.30pm. Lymphoedema Awareness Workshop with Clare Cox
Friday 27 April 2pm – 5.30pm. The Art of Letting Go & Self Healing with Gosia Gorna

Thursday 22 February 10am – 1.00pm. Creative Collage Workshop with Sharon Pullen 
£5.00 Donation. Personal journeys – creating landscapes using collage. Although materials are supplied you may wish to bring additional resources. A creative experience which can be both rewarding and therapeutic through the telling and sharing of your own particular stories.
Sharon is a practising artist and state registered psychotherapist.  In addition to her work at the Haven she works for the NHS within a rehabilitation unit, and for a women’s forensic service.

Wednesday 21 March 2pm – 4pm. Music & Imagination Workshop with Anthony Hall 
£5.00 Donation. This practical, fascinating and supportive group workshop will focus on using guided relaxation, carefully selected music and your imagination in a healing capacity.  This workshop is based on the principles of Guided Imagery and Music (GIM) – a powerful creative arts therapy which has been widely used in Demark and other Scandinavian countries for supporting people living with cancer (or those who are cancer survivors).
This unique combination of being in a relaxed state and listening to specially selected music can help to reduce stress and anxiety levels utilise our own coping mechanisms and help to discover our inner resources.
Anthony Hall is a qualified Music Psychotherapist registered with the Health Professionals Council, London.  Anthony runs a private practice based in Cardiff and is passionate about the benefits of creative art therapies.  His other interests include yoga, tai chi, meditation and walking in nature.

Wednesday 28 March 1.30pm – 3.30pm. Lymphoedema Awareness Workshop with Clare Cox 
For those who have had surgery or radiotherapy to the armpit / axilla but who do not have Lymphoedema
Wednesday 18 April 2pm – 4pm 
Plant Medicine with Christine Steward 
£5.00 Donation. Christine qualified as a medical herbalist in 1987 and was on the Council of the National Institute from 1989 until 1998. During this time she worked as a Press and Information Officer for the Institute writing many articles on herbal medicine and contributing to and editing a number of books

Friday 27 April 2pm – 5.30pm. The Art of Letting Go & Self Healing with Gosia Gorna 
£5.00 Donation. Gosia’s work is based on the idea that our emotions and thoughts have a powerful effect on our physical body and general well-being and it is important to take them into consideration in a process of change and healing.
